CHARLESTOWN CONDOMINIUM

In July 2016, a fire swept through this Victorian townhouse, destroying all four condominium units and razing the 1980’s five story rear addition. Sited near the apex of Bunker Hill Street, this through-lot property has commanding views of Boston and slopes down over twenty feet to the adjacent street. The original building is undergoing a gut renovation and a new addition has been designed for the rear. BEACON HILL APARTMENT BUILDING

 

Heavily damaged in a 2016 fire, this 1920’s brick apartment building on historic Beacon Hill is undergoing a full gut renovation. The owners have taken the opportunity to modernize and reconfigure the eleven apartments into 9 two-bed units and 2 one-bed units. Beyond the many requirements of bringing the building up to today’s codes, the insertion of an elevator was a technical challenge involving considerable engineering.

The building is unusual for its location as it is newer relative to its neighbors, taller, and runs through the block to the next street over. Despite its long and narrow geometry, a side courtyard allows for dozens of windows into all of the units. Finishes are clean, modern and bright to take advantage of the natural light.
