Boston Common Penthouse
Full architectural and interior design services were provided for this 4400 sf penthouse in a Back Bay Art-Deco apartment building. The three levels were arranged around existing building infrastructure to create an expansive sense of space. Newly introduced horizontal and vertical connections, both within the apartment and to the outdoor terraces and views, connected spaces that were originally discrete and separate. Main living areas including several bedroom suites are on the first level; the upper two floors provide indoor and outdoor entertainment spaces as well as a gym. There is a balance of sophistication and youthfulness throughout the space with a rich mix of warm and cool tones in the materials, textiles, and finishes. Custom millwork unifies the rooms with a consistent color and design aesthetic. This project was designed and managed by Aaron J. Weinert AIA while at H+A Inc, with Kate Kelley as primary interior designer.
