Converting this 3500 sf Victorian South End townhouse into luxury condominiums required navigation through many Boston agencies. Adding a 1500 sf addition that demanded a zoning variance, parks and other department approvals while maintaining the historic character of the neighborhood, was a challenge. The result is a well-proportioned renovation and expansion that includes two magnificent units on a corner lot and facing a local park. The original front doors lead to the upper triplex unit which features open living on the first two floors; on the third, the street side features views of Back Bay while at the rear, the master bedroom leads to a grand roof patio atop the addition and overlooking the park. A side entrance leads to the lower unit which features open parlor level living and bedrooms on the garden level. All interior finishes were new and intended to create a balance between the traditional and the contemporary.
