22 Montgomery Street

This unusual South End corner building c.1865 is actually two separate townhouses each with small, angular floor plans. The townhouse facing Montgomery Street, which has an atypical central entry and stair configuration, has been fully renovated. The challenge was to bring together the glamor of the past with the expectations of modern urban living all while working within the unconventional building footprint. The parlor level, just a few steps up from the street features a central foyer flanked by a dining room and a modern kitchen. The second floor is the most open, with a double living room, built-in bar and original curved doors. The third floor is a master suite; above, two additional bedrooms take advantage of the views from the mansard windows. A roof deck and a private garden courtyard accessed from one of the two garden level bedrooms also provide exterior spaces for enjoyment.
